EFY Coordinator

EFY Coordinators act as on-site leaders at EFY sessions, overseeing the weekly program and ensuring that all involved leave better than they came. We seek individuals with strong faith in Jesus Christ and in His Restored Gospel to serve as role models of divine sisterhood and honorable priesthood holders, future missionaries, mothers, fathers, and leaders in the Lord’s Church and kingdom. 

Payment for EFY Coordinators is $1100 for a week-long contract. Returning Coordinators will earn an extra $25 per returning year up to a maximum of $1175. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with local campus personnel, session directors, staff, and all participants in a professional manner to facilitate on-site coordination of assigned EFY sessions, as directed by an administrator.
  • Work with a co-coordinator to effectively manage a leadership team to supervise participants. 
  • Assist in the training and development of assistant coordinators, health coordinators, and counselors to maximize their ability to work effectively with participants, as directed by program administrators. Specifically, demonstrate proficient formal and informal teaching techniques and create a learning atmosphere in which all recognize and learn by the Spirit. 
  • Help all youth have a positive and uplifting experience and, as needed, handle youth disciplinary situations with sensitivity. 
  • Give clear direction and provide corrective feedback to staff regarding their responsibilities and job performance in working with participants. 
  • Understand, follow, and (where applicable) enforce EFY policies addressing general conduct, youth protection, sexual misconduct, and standards of communication. 
  • Read and study the EFY Staff Handbook prior to first contracted week and continue study throughout the summer. 

Qualifications:  

  • Be a young single adult member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Be a minimum of 21 years old by May 15th of the summer for which you are applying to work.
  • Accept as a condition of employment compliance with Brigham Young University Honor Code and to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Have previous EFY/FSY employment experience OR equivalent leadership experience supervising peers and/or youth. 
  • Abide by the EFY employee dress and appearance standards as found on the EFY website. 
  • Able to walk for extended periods of time during the day, be energized and actively engaged with the youth, perform all duties, and participate in physical activities, including, but not limited to: playing games, walking up and down stairs, running, jumping, and dancing. If involved with EFY Adventure, these activities would also include, but are not limited to: river rafting, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, climbing, rappelling, canyoneering, mountain biking, hiking, and shooting sports.  
  • Be able to accompany youth for extended periods of time over long distances throughout the day.
  • Be able to supervise, interact positively with, and teach youth from early in the morning to late at night, maintaining the mental and physical well-being and emotional stability necessary to help all youth, while continuing to perform other job responsibilities, including in stressful situations. 
  • Be able to understand and respond to youth participants’ and colleagues’ words, actions, and nonverbal communication in ways that help youth participants have a positive and uplifting experience.
  • Be able to respond in kind and helpful ways that protect youth safety and well-being when youth participants have needs, including during the night. 
  • Able to make procedural decisions while exercising good judgement, reliability, and accountability. 
  • Able to organize resources and establish priorities. 
  • Exemplify strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Pass required background check for this position.

  • Previous EFY or FSY coordinator, assistant coordinator, or health coordinator experience.  
  • Able to work 8 or more weeks. Individuals available during most if not all EFY peak weeks (June 9 – July 5) will be given preference in scheduling. The employer acknowledges the possibility that some individuals’ availability may fall outside peak weeks or otherwise fail to align with EFY program needs. While we welcome applications from individuals with availability outside peak weeks, please be advised that session assignments are made according to EFY program needs and individuals whose availability is or becomes low may receive no assignments, and therefore no pay, even if hired.”

EFY Health Coordinator

The EFY Health Coordinator's main role is to assist program participants with health needs. Health Coordinators have the opportunity to interact with the youth, helping them maintain their physical and spiritual well-being. Health Coordinators work closely with the Coordinators, Assistant Coordinators, and Counselors in fulfilling their responsibilities. Responsibilities: 

  • Work responsibly to promote the physical and spiritual well-being of the participants; specifically responding to and assisting participants with minor health needs in an empathetic and respectful manner (this position may include AM and PM hours in rotating shifts).
  • Work directly with, take direction from, and report to EFY administrative staff and coordinators in working with youth participants.
  • Ability to use education, experience, and sound reasoning to respond to health needs of youth participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of medical services and medications provided for staff and youth participants.
  • Respond to parental questions and concerns, when necessary.
  • Able to work well independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.  
  • Understand, follow, and (where applicable) enforce respective EFY policies addressing general conduct, youth protection, sexual misconduct, and standards of communication.

Qualifications:

EFY Lead Counselor

EFY Lead Counselors play a vital role in contributing to the success of the program. We seek individuals with strong faith in Jesus Christ and in His Restored Gospel to serve as role models of divine sisterhood and honorable priesthood holders, future missionaries, mothers, fathers, and leaders in the Lord's Church and kingdom.

  • Willingly and responsibly work to promote the physical safety and spiritual well-being of each participant attending EFY.
  • Assist in the training and development of counselors to maximize their ability to work effectively with participants as directed by coordinators and program administrators. Specifically, demonstrate proficient formal and informal teaching techniques and create a learning atmosphere in which all recognize and learn by the Spirit.
  • Guide counselors in appropriate associations with EFY program participants. 
  • Help all youth have a positive and uplifting experience and, as needed, handle youth disciplinary situations with sensitivity.
  • Give clear direction and provide corrective feedback to counselors regarding their responsibilities while working with participants.
  • Organize and execute various duties and activities of the EFY program as assigned (including, but not limited to: holding and leading effective meetings and facilitating games night, musical program, variety show, etc.) for the benefit of participants.
  • Understand, follow, and (where applicable) enforce EFY policies addressing general conduct, youth protection, sexual misconduct, and standards of communication. 
  • Read and study the EFY Staff Handbook prior to first contracted week and continue study throughout the summer.

Qualifications:

  • Work well with a co-counselor with minimal supervision and contribute as a team member. 
  • Understand, follow, and (where applicable) enforce respective EFY policies addressing general conduct, youth protection, sexual misconduct, and standards of communication. 
  • Read and study the EFY Staff Handbook prior to first contracted week and continue study throughout the summer. 

Qualifications:

EFY Married Counselor

EFY Counselors are the single most important factor contributing to the success of the program. We seek couples with strong faith in Jesus Christ and in His Restored Gospel to serve as role models of divine sisterhood and honorable priesthood holders, future missionaries, mothers, fathers, and leaders in the Lord's Church and kingdom. 

Payment for EFY Counselors is $800 per employee for a week-long contract. Each individual must apply separately and indicate on the application the name of their spouse. Each individual will have their own employment contracts, but the couple will be hired to work together as co-counselors over an assigned group. Resignation or termination of one spouse will result in disqualification of the other. Returning Married Counselors will earn an extra $25 per returning year up to a maximum of $875.

  • Have at least one year of college, work experience, or missionary service after high school.
